How is business
coaching different from executive coaching?
Business coaching is designed to accelerate
execution and achievement of social and business
outcomes by empowering leaders with data and
business tools to make smart business decisions, and
pairing leaders with a confidential champion who is
an expert in executing change in the nonprofit
sector and has deep business expertise. Business
coaches hold themselves accountable to helping
leaders accomplish the most critical business
activities that increase impact. Executive coaching
in comparison is focused on improving the
effectiveness of a particular leader. Executive
coaching does not focus on solving a particular
business problem, execution, or provide access to
data to make smart business decisions.
How is business
coaching different from consulting?
In its consulting practice, CWV is hired to conduct
research, and to develop strategies and to find
solutions on behalf of our partners. In business
coaching, CWV may conduct research and collect data
but we do not independently develop strategies or
find the answers. Instead, we provide leaders with
data, best practices and tools, and leaders use
coaches as sounding boards to develop their own
strategies for execution, and to determine
solutions.
Should I apply if I am working on raising funds to
cover the cost?
Organizations are welcome to apply for
business
coaching even if they are in the process of raising
funds to cover the cost. Please indicate in your
application under the optional question when you
expect the funds to be raised.
What if I have a more
limited budget to support coaching?
If you are highly
motivated to participate in coaching and your budget
is limited, you may note this in your application or
contact CWV directly to discuss your circumstances.
In the past, CWV has made modifications to the
amount of coaching time and research support when
these modifications enable participants to receive
full value and meet desired outcomes.
Can I speak with other organizations that CWV has
coached?
CWV always welcomes communication among its
nonprofit network and community of partners. We are
happy to provide references upon request as long as
it is not overly burdensome to our partner
organizations. Demand will determine our ability to
release contact information at any given time.
