CWV provides this high-engagement funder with on-going research work focused on the
venture philanthropy community. VPP and CWV most
recently released the fourth report entitled High-Engagement
Philanthropy: A Bridge to a More Effective Social Sector.
International
Franchise Association
CWV
partnered with the International Franchise Association to
research nonprofits that owned franchises. The report
shares the lessons learned by those social enterprises and
franchisors, as well as making recommendations for how
nonprofits and franchisors might work together more
effectively in the future.
Atlantic
Philanthropies / David and Lucille Packard Foundation
With funding from Atlantic Philanthropies and the David and
Lucille Packard Foundation, CWV researched and authored Powering Social Change.
This report is a comprehensive overview of social enterprise in the
United States, including essays from leading practitioners
and funders, case studies highlighting enterprising
nonprofit organizations, practical lessons for
organizations seeking to diversify their revenue streams,
and survey results from 72 nonprofit organizations
representing 105 ventures and partnerships.
The
Social Enterprise Database
is a directory of nonprofit organizations with
business ventures and strategic alliances. It is a reference
tool for nonprofit entrepreneurs,
foundation professionals, consumers, donors, or others
interested in the growing field of social enterprise.
The
Forbes Fund / The Elmer J. Tropman Nonprofit Research Fund
In conjunction with the Pittsburgh Social Enterprise
Accelerator, CWV developed a report on financing social
enterprises entitled Identifying
Financing Opportunities for Pittsburgh-Based Social
Enterprises: Challenges and Opportunities for Capitalizing
Entrepreneurial Ventures. The full
version of the report is also available for download.
Community
Wealth Seeker's Guide
Mapping Your Assets and Identifying Opportunities is a downloadable
interactive guide to help nonprofit's research and assess community wealth potential. It is
designed to lead organizations through the initial stages
of CWV's assessment phase and prepare them to evaluate the
feasibility of potential community wealth activities.
BoardSource
In conjunction with BoardSource, CWV developed
Unlocking
Profit Potential, a guide for nonprofit boards to
understand and assess earned income business ventures.
David and
Lucile Packard Foundation
At the request of the Packard Foundation, CWV researched the
California marketplace to assess what regions of the state
would be best suited to host a group-based initiative to
support social enterprise development. Building on the success
of CWV’s Paving Pathways program, this project examined the
foundation, nonprofit, and technical assistance communities in
Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Sacramento.
Fannie Mae Foundation
CWV researched and
developed an extensive report on the potential impact strategic
alliances and mergers can have on the nonprofit sector. The
report profiled numerous case studies and lessons learned
from the field. Additionally, it developed a practical guide
for any nonprofit considering a strategic alliance as well
as a high-level look at the impact the strategy might have
in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
