Over the past few months, CWV has engaged in a market research process designed to inform our investment in our firm’s growth from both a mission and financial perspective.  As a result, we find ourselves in the midst of a process of strategic soul-searching as we look to chart out the future direction for our organization.

A critical finding in our research is that the community wealth ecosystem is increasingly complex.  Thus, to advance the field of practice, we must look beyond the singular growth strategies deployed by discrete entities, and concurrently attempt to pull the levers that can drive systemic change.  CWV is not alone in this endeavor.  This issue of Vanguard features George Overholser’s profile of the Nonprofit Finance Fund’s innovative approach to addressing the capital needs of nonprofit organizations.  Shirley Sagawa discusses the efforts of America Forward to affect change in the public policy arena.  The use of strategic partnerships to drive growth is the focus of articles by Rebecca Masisak, Co-CEO of Tech Soup, and by Warren Tranquada of Aperio and CWV’s own Nicole Hanrahan.  Finally, our top ten list offers practical tips for those engaging prospective donors and investors in their growth.
